A 4th of July with a difference. There wasn’t a BBQ but the weekly Temple Bar food market was in front and around the corner. Our sales rep had a good day. She met some new people (as well as old friends), sold a few books and cards, bemused her family, had a lovely coffee from the market and made it back to base in time for a burger, beer and boules on the front lawn. It was her first business trip to Ireland. Her visits in the 20 years since she took a temporary break from university (20 years ago) and went to England have been purely recreational. When we last spoke, she said that she hoped to have the opportunity to visit in a business capacity again soon. So, let’s hope, for her sake, that there is an artist’s book fair in Ireland in the near future.

Spike Island Open Studios

EAK Enterprises’ new offices were open to the public on the May Day Bank Holiday Weekend. They were allowed access from 10:30 to 6 Saturday the 2nd to Monday the 4th of May 2009.

It was a rather modest appearance, and our representative wasn’t present at all times as she was somewhat the worse for wear after the wonderful artists’ book event at the Arnolfini and a subsequent residential relocation and is still in need of a good tonic, poor dear. But, she did enjoy it (especially all the cake) and some of you had the opportunity to see where EAK ideas are generated and made flesh.

This was a very successful outing for the Press. Thank you all for your support and, especially, for your expressions of appreciation (i.e. your cash). It was immensely gratifying and may encourage us to repeat the experience at some point in the future.
